JB Marks Local Municipality — Ikageng illegal dumping clean-up

Removal of illegal dumping sites in Ikageng, Potchefstroom

  • Clean-up programme across four Ikageng wards (Wards 1, 18, 19 and 20), April to June 2024
  • Preliminary assessment of each identified dumping site, recording location, size and waste type
  • Tipper trucks and TLBs deployed to excavate, load and transport waste to the designated disposal facility
  • Cleared areas levelled to discourage repeat dumping, followed by site clean-up and final inspection
  • Individual hotspot sites cleared, including areas of over 1 800 m² on Phalatsane Street
  • Daily activity logs, weekly progress reports to the municipality and a final report with before-and-after photographs
  • Health, safety and environmental compliance maintained throughout waste removal and disposal

  • Contract KKDM 23/22 covering grader, TLB, tipper truck, water truck and compactor truck hire
  • Instructed to activate and deploy one TLB and two tipper trucks for waste management activities in the Tlokwe and Ventersdorp areas for the Directorate: Community Services

  • Appointed to the panel of service providers for the hire of plant and equipment as and when needed over a 36-month period (tender MHLM/SCM/07/2024/2025)
